Key Terminologies of TSC Water™

 Following is the list of such terms and their definitions which are used in TSC Water TM :-

Groundwater

Groundwater” is water that exists underground in saturated zones beneath the land surface. The upper surface of the saturated zone is called the water table. Contrary to popular belief, groundwater does not form underground rivers.


Compliance
Compliance, in a basic sense, refers to the act of following and adhering to rules, regulations, laws, or standards set by authorities, organizations, or established norms. It involves ensuring that actions and behaviour align with prescribed guidelines to meet legal, ethical, or industry-specific requirements.

Field Instruments
Field instruments are devices used to measure and control various process parameters in industrial settings, particularly in fields such as manufacturing, petrochemicals, energy, and more. These instruments play a crucial role in monitoring and regulating the conditions of processes to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality. Here are some common types of field instruments.
Flow Total

“Flow total" typically refers to the total amount of fluid (such as water or gas) that moves through a system or a particular point over a specified period. This measurement is often expressed in terms of volume per unit of time. The flow total can be used to quantify the total amount of a substance that has passed through a particular location, like a pipe or a channel.


 Flow Rate
Flow rate is a measure of the amount of fluid (liquid or gas) that passes through a particular point in a system per unit of time. It is often expressed as volume per unit of time, such as liters per second or cubic feet per minute.
Flow Meter
A flow meter is an instrument used to measure the flow rate of a fluid (liquid or gas) in a pipeline or conduit. It is a critical device in various industries and applications where precise control or monitoring of fluid flow is necessary. Flow meters provide valuable information about the quantity of fluid passing through a system, helping in process control, resource management, and efficiency improvement. Piezometer

A piezometer is an instrument used to measure the pressure of groundwater at a specific point beneath the ground surface. It helps determine the height to which groundwater will naturally rise in a borehole or well
 Facilities
The term "facilities" typically refers to the physical or virtual resources, amenities, or services associated with an organization. This may include details about the locations, infrastructure, or services provided by the organization, allowing for effective administration and organization of resources. 
 Borewells
A borewell is a narrow, deep hole drilled into the ground to access groundwater. The primary purpose of drilling a borewell is to extract water for various purposes such as drinking, irrigation, industrial use, or other domestic needs. Borewells are common in areas where surface water is scarce or unreliable, and accessing groundwater is a practical solution.
Parameters

"Parameters" refer to measurable or definable factors that define or characterize a system, process, or phenomenon. These factors describe and assess the state, performance, or behavior of something. In various contexts, parameters provide a way to quantify and analyze different aspects of a situation.


 Regulatory Body
A regulatory body is an organization or government agency that is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing rules, regulations, and standards within a specific industry or sector. The primary purpose of a regulatory body is to ensure that organizations and individuals operating within that industry comply with established laws and guidelines. Regulatory bodies play a crucial role in maintaining fairness, safety, and ethical practices, as well as protecting the interests of consumers and the public.
CGWA
The Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) is an organization in India responsible for the management and regulation of groundwater resources. It operates under the Ministry of Jal Shakti (Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation). The primary objective of CGWA is to control and regulate the development and management of groundwater resources to prevent their depletion and degradation.
NOC
The "CGWA NOC" refers to the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) in India. The CGWA is a regulatory body responsible for the management and protection of groundwater resources in the country. Obtaining a CGWA NOC is a crucial step for various activities that involve the extraction and use of groundwater.
